1. Don’t
reuse old boxes. (More than a few times, that is.) Boxes that have only
been used two or three times are generally up to another move. But after that,
many boxes start to degrade, losing their original toughness and rigidity. They
can rip, fold in, and even collapse when stacked, compromising your items’
condition.
2. Distribute
weight evenly. That being said, even the newest, strongest boxes won’t
stand up to over-packing. Books, dishes, and other heavy objects shouldn’t be
grouped all in one place. Spread them across a few boxes and pack them with
lighter objects, like towels and clothing. Otherwise, they may fall through the
bottoms of their boxes.
3. Ask
for help when you need it. Trying to move heavy boxes or furniture alone
can result in disaster--and damage. You can make things easier on yourself by
enlisting the help of local movers
in St. Louis, MO. They can help you
save time and energy on your next move.
