Environmentally Friendly Moving Supplies

Used Moving Boxes
Usually, you have enough lead time before moving to a new house to decide what to take with you and what to give away. Why not go green and apply that same forethought to packing supplies? Save used boxes, bubble wrap, corrugated cardboard, and tissue from packages and gifts you receive to help with your relocation.

Another consideration is to ask your moving company if they supply used moving boxes in St. Louis or there may be a group in town that does. If you can borrow these items from another, even a friend or neighbor, you're reusing packing supplies and doing your part for the environment.

Remember Packing Paper & Filler Material

In addition to moving boxes, you need to keep wrapping and filler material in mind. Many of the items in your home need careful packing to survive the trip -- for instance, lamps, dishes, glasses, clocks, and more. For these, we recommend having gently used tissue paper from wrapping gifts, towels, linens, and blankets. These cushion delicate items and only need washing when arriving at your new home.

And, when you do need to buy packing materials, consider those that are green. You can buy bubble wrap or corrugated cardboard made of corn or use recycled kraft paper for packaging and filling material.
