Create a Home Inventory for Tracking

Home Inventory
When you pack up and move everything you own from one place to another, there’s always a chance that an item will fall through the cracks. Creating a home inventory before house moving in St. Louis, MO, can help you discover if anything has been lost or damaged.

Make Copies of Important Documents

Marriage certificates, wills, birth certificates, insurance policies, and similar documents can create major problems for you if lost. Make copies of these documents and pack them separately to make sure they arrive at your new destination safely. It is even better if you can keep the original documents on your person during the move.

Make a List of All Your Belongings

There are many different ways to create a household inventory, including video, audio, photos, or even a written list. No matter which method you choose, try to make a note of how much each item costs. If these items are covered by insurance, you’ll want that information if you need to file a claim for them. Distinctive features or serial numbers should also be recorded, especially on items of high value – sentimental or monetary.

Make a Copy of Your List

When you complete your home inventory, make sure you make a copy of it. If you lose your inventory list, you might let a lost item slip away without notice. Give your copy to a friend or relative so that it can be recovered if you lose the original.
